This can happen if the owner has created duplicate instances of a sailor. This can happen over time if the owner does not search the list properly and creates a second profile for the same crew member.

E.g.

  • Fred Smith (profile one)
  • Fred Smith (profile two)

Routinely, TES only displays one instance of any particle name.

So if Fred Smith (one) is deleted and you refresh the screen, Fred Smith (two) will appear in the list.

For several reasons,  it is not feasible to automatically merge crew profiles. Thus, it is impractical to have TES  merge Fred Smith (one) and Fred Smith (two).

Further, there may be father and son Fred Smith, and potential privacy issues if profiles are merged automatically.
