Background:

For Off-the-Beach boats and Trailable boats there are two Time Correction Factor (TCF) systems, one for eacg group.

The intention is to normalise  a competitor’s elapsed times to remove the inherent speed differences caused by different boat designs and rig variations. For example, a 29er and laser full-rig sailing on the same course.

For OTB boats, this TCF is called a Yard Stick (YS)

For Trailable Boats, it is called a Class Based Handicap (CBH)

In recent times, the yardsticks published by Australian Sailing (AS) have become very closely aligned with the English ‘Port Smith Marks’ for OTB boats, which resulted in the movement of several class yardsticks.  AS have also updated the CBH listings, however, for most classes, these changes have only been marginal.

To complement the above, the Conversion Factor (to convert CBH to YS) has been changed. This enables Trailable and OTB boats to compete in a common regatta, and to produce meaningful results.

TopYacht Version 10.21.8.3 (or later) contains the latest updates.
